Saking terpesonanya, Deokee sampai mengikuti kelas menulis yang diisi oleh Hak Kyu. Meskipun Hak Kyu sudah memberitahu soal statusnya yang sudah beristri dan memiliki seorang putri, Deokee tetap setia mengikuti Hak Kyu kemana pun. Berita hubungan Hak Kyu dan Deokee ini pun segera menyebar di seluruh desa. Di saat bersamaan Hak Kyu mendapat kabar bahwa namanya sudah berhasil dibersihkan dari skandal. Hak Kyu pun bisa kembali ke Seoul. Ketika Deokee datang padanya dengan membawa kabar kehamilannya, Hak Kyu memberi solusi untuk aborsi. Deokee yang sangat mencintai Hak Kyu menurut. Ia juga dengan setia menunggu Hak Kyu yang berjanji akan kembali padanya. Pada suatu malam, Hak Kyu memang akhirnya datang ke rumah Deokee. Namun ia datang bukan untuk kembali menjalin hubungan dengan Deokee, melainkan untuk memberi wanita itu uang dan memintanya untuk tidak menunggu lagi. Deokee jelas terpukul dengan keputusan kejam Hak Kyu tersebut. Yang lebih menyedihkan, pada malam itu juga Deokee harus menghadapi peristiwa kebakaran yang menewaskan ibunya yang tuna wicara. Bagi Hak Kyu sendiri malam itu adalah hari kematian istrinya diperankan oleh Yoon Se Ah yang juga membintangi Melting Me Softly yang menderita depresi hingga akhirnya memutuskan bunuh diri. Delapan tahun berlalu, Hak Kyu menjadi seorang penulis novel sukses namun menjalani kehidupan liar dan tak sehat. Hubungannya dengan putrinya, Chung Yi diperankan oleh Park So Young, tetap dingin. Diam-diam Cheong Yi menyalahkan Hak Kyu atas kematian ibunya. Saat melarikan diri dari hidupnya, Cheong Yi bertemu dengan seorang wanita yang mengaku bernama Yoon Se Jung. Wanita ini tak lain adalah Deokee. Ia kini telah berubah menjadi seorang wanita kuat dengan misi balas dendam kepada Hak Kyu. Sambil berpura-pura menjadi tenaga yang mengetikkan naskah novel Hak Kyu, Deokee melancarkan balas dendamnya. Secara terencana ia membuat Hak Kyu yang mulai kehilangan penglihatannya menjadi semakin tak bisa melihat alias buta. Ia juga membuat Hak Kyu terlilit banyak hutang hingga terpaksa menjual Cheong Yi ke luar negeri. Apakah Deokee berhasil menyengsarakan Hak Kyu seperti pernah pria itu lakukan kepadanya? Dan apakah Hak Kyu sama sekali tidak mengenali sosok Deokee sebagai seseorang yang pernah hadir di masa lalunya? Well if you missed my puns ... here they are. Those aside though, the movie is quite strong and takes us in different directions ... and really takes our feeling and spins them around ... and around ... and around. Korean cinema does not care what you expect or what you want to see on screen - it delivers on a different course that may not be true of all the movies, but it true for the movies that really make an impact. Even more so than some movies do from other countries, where you can guess the direction the movie is going a few minutes into it. I doubt you could do that here - it may even surprise you in the final minutes to be all said, there is a quite some sexual tension and some situations of that nature. Just in case that matters one way or another to you. But it is the human drama that really is the thing that will impact you ... you will be feeling different things ... and those feelings may contradict themselves too ... that is not a bad thing. Morally speaking the definition of good and bad may differ also ... obsession is never a good thing though - that is safe to say again with the puns

Scarlet Innocence is a racy korean movie about a Professor who is sent to a small town after being suspended from his post at a university following claims of sexual harassment. He meets Deokee, an innocent and naive 18 year old girl who lives with her mute mother, looking for love and excitement in her boring little town that seems to be made up of an aging population. While the story line has a few unexpected twists, no event was appalling enough to really evoke strong feelings of sympathy towards the characters. I did not get angry with them, I did not feel sad with them, I was not happy with them. While the storyline had several poorly explained occurrences, some that seemed down right impossible, I think if there were stronger actors in the movie with better chemistry, this would have been more enjoyable to watch and receive a higher score from me. I mainly watched because it had some racy scenes which I like, especially in Korean cinema because they are usually well choreographed, but the sex scenes in this movie were just boring to watch and barely arousing. I didn't expect much after I saw the IMDB rating of but I was still disappointed. TL;DR I wouldn't recommend watching even if you're bored.
